Job Summary:
The Small Groups Pastor at Impact will be responsible for creating, overseeing, and nurturing a dynamic small groups ministry that fosters discipleship, community, and spiritual growth within the congregation. This individual will empower and equip leaders to guide small groups effectively while ensuring alignment with the church’s vision and mission. The Small Groups Pastor must be passionate about building relationships, developing leaders, and connecting people into meaningful, transformative communities within the church.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Small Groups Strategy and Vision
• Develop and implement a vision and strategy for the small groups ministry that supports the church’s mission of discipleship and community.
• Collaborate with the Senior and Executive Pastors to ensure the small groups ministry aligns with the overall direction of the church.
• Regularly evaluate and refine the ministry to ensure it meets the needs of the congregation and encourages spiritual growth.
2. Recruitment and Development of Small Group Leaders
• Identify, recruit, train, and support small group leaders, equipping them with the tools and resources needed to lead effectively.
• Provide ongoing coaching, development, and encouragement for group leaders through regular meetings, training events, and one-on-one mentoring.
• Ensure that leaders are spiritually mature, in alignment with the church’s values, and committed to the vision of small groups.
3. Pastoral Care and Group Oversight
• Provide pastoral care and guidance to small group leaders and members, ensuring that groups are healthy and thriving.
• Maintain a regular presence with small group leaders, addressing concerns and challenges as they arise, and offering spiritual guidance and prayer.
• Monitor the overall health of small groups, making adjustments as necessary to ensure that every participant feels connected and valued.
4. Community Building and Group Connection
• Develop strategies to integrate new members and congregants into small groups, ensuring that every person has an opportunity to participate in a group.
• Create and manage a clear communication and promotion plan for small groups, making it easy for people to find and join a group that suits their
needs.
• Organize events, such as group launches and connection events, to encourage engagement and promote the small groups ministry.
5. Curriculum Development and Resource Management
• Develop or curate biblically sound, church-aligned curriculum for small groups to use, ensuring it encourages spiritual growth and discipleship.
• Stay informed on relevant resources and materials that would benefit the groups, and ensure they are readily available and easy to use for group leaders.
• Work with the church’s pastoral staff to ensure that small group studies complement sermon series or specific spiritual themes within the church.
6. Discipleship and Spiritual Formation
• Foster an environment within small groups where participants grow in their relationship with Jesus and in community with others.
• o Encourage small groups to not only be a place for fellowship but also for mission and service, empowering members to live out their faith practically.
• Champion the value of small groups as a key method of discipleship within the congregation.
7. Administrative Oversight
• Oversee the logistics of the small groups ministry, including group sign-ups, leader assignments, and group communications.
• Ensure that group leaders are equipped with the necessary materials, meeting spaces, and support to lead their groups effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of group membership, attendance, and leader involvement for reporting and pastoral care purposes.
8. Collaboration with Church Leadership
• Work closely with the church’s leadership team to ensure that the small groups ministry complements other areas of church life and ministry.
• Act as a bridge between small group leaders and church leadership, ensuring that the needs and concerns of groups are communicated and addressed.
• Collaborate with the worship and teaching teams to integrate small group activities with the broader life of the church.
Key Qualifications:
• Proven experience in pastoral leadership, preferably with a focus on small groups, discipleship, or community-building ministries.
• Strong relational and communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships with leaders, group members, and church staff.
• Passion for creating environments where people grow spiritually and relationally within a community.
• Ability to cast vision, implement strategy, and develop a thriving small groups ministry.
• Experience in leadership development, including recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer leaders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple groups, leaders, and events.
• A heart for pastoral care, with a focus on guiding people toward spiritual maturity and relational health.
• Familiarity with small group curriculum development and discipleship tools.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Impact, with a heart for serving the local church.
