Worship Pastor

Job Title: Worship Pastor
Reports to: Lead Pastor

Location: Impact Church (Rock Hill, SC)

Job Summary:

The Worship Pastor at Impact is responsible for cultivating a Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and creatively engaging worship culture. This role oversees all aspects of the worship experience, leading teams in both musical and production elements to create environments where people encounter God. The Worship Pastor must possess strong musical ability, a heart for pastoral leadership, and the organizational and relational skills to lead teams with humility and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Worship Leadership
  • Lead worship regularly at Sunday services and major church events, modeling authentic, passionate, and Spirit-filled worship.
  • Plan, prepare, and execute worship sets that align with the message, theme, and flow of the service in collaboration with the Lead and Teaching Pastors.
  • Ensure that worship environments are Christ-exalting, theologically sound, and musically excellent.

Team Development
  • Recruit, audition, train, and disciple volunteer worship leaders, musicians, and vocalists.
  • Develop a culture of excellence, unity, humility, and growth within the worship team.
  • Identify and raise up leaders who can multiply the ministry and lead teams and services independently.

Service Planning & Production
  • Collaborate with pastors, creative team, and technical team in the planning and execution of worship services.
  • Lead weekly rehearsals and prepare resources (chord charts, recordings, Planning Center, etc.) to ensure team readiness.
  • Oversee the musical and production elements of all services, including transitions, flow, and creative elements.
  • Work alongside the production team to ensure all A/V and tech needs are met.

Pastoral Leadership
  • Shepherd and care for team members through prayer, encouragement, accountability, and discipleship.
  • Help to cultivate spiritual maturity and servant-hearted leadership in all worship and production team members.
  • Participate in the spiritual life and leadership of the church beyond the worship platform.

Administrative & Organizational Leadership
  • Manage worship ministry scheduling, communication, and planning platforms such as Planning Center Online.
  • Maintain worship equipment, instruments, and software to ensure quality and functionality.
  • Develop and steward the worship ministry budget in coordination with the Executive Director and Lead Pastor.
  • Provide support for special events including baptisms, weddings, funerals, and conferences as needed.

Qualifications:
  • A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ marked by humility, integrity, and a heart for worship.
  • Proven experience leading worship in a church setting, with strong vocal ability and proficiency on guitar, keyboard, or other lead instrument.
  • Ability to lead, train, and mentor a team of volunteers both musically and spiritually.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary worship styles, theology of worship, and the role of worship in the church.
  • Experience with worship planning tools (e.g., Planning Center), Ableton/loops/clicks, and audio/visual technology.
  • Collaborative spirit with the ability to work closely with other pastors and departments.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • A heart for developing others, building teams, and seeing people grow in their gifts and walk with Christ.
  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Impact.
