Who can volunteer for Night to Shine?
What times do volunteers arrive and leave?
Anyone 16 and older who submits a permission slip signed by a parent or 18 and older who consents to a background check. All volunteers are required to attend a mandatory training.
Volunteers should arrive at 3:45 pm on February 7 and plan to stay until 10:00. Some volunteers teams will be dismissed once their task is complete.

DESCRIPTION OF VOLUNTEER ROLES
- Buddy: In this role, you will accompany and assist an assigned guest with activities throughout the evening. Dancing and staying upbeat and excited is required! You will eat a buffet dinner with your guest and stay to help clean up at the end. It is encouraged to dress up - men should wear a suit or shirt and tie, and women should wear a formal dress!
- Registration Team: In this role, you will sign in and distribute materials to volunteers and guests as they arrive for the night. You will also sign out guests as they leave.
- Bathroom Attendant: In this role, you will monitor the bathrooms. This includes making sure guests go into their respective bathrooms alone, and if they do not come out in a timely manner, you and their buddy will check on them. Volunteers and buddies will not help guests with undressing, dressing, or toileting; caregivers will be called upon for those tasks.
- Sensory Room Attendant: In this role, you will be stationed in the sensory room to spend time with guests who may become over-stimulated during the event. You will interact with them by participating in sensory activities, singing or listening to calming music, or simply providing them with some quiet time.
- Karaoke Room Attendant: In this role, you will be stationed in the karaoke room to help with karaoke and other activities for guests and their buddies. Applauding and singing along is expected!
- Caregiver Respite Room Attendant: In this role, you will be stationed in the respite room to spend time with parents and caretakers who stay at the event to wait for the guests. There will be activities and food provided in this room for them to enjoy and relax.
- Hair & Makeup Team: In this role, you will be at a salon station to do hair and makeup for guests. Must be professionally licensed.
- Shoeshine Team: In this role you will be at a shoeshine station to help guests feel pampered and ready for the dance floor.
- Limo Team: In this role, you will either assist with getting the correct number of people into the limo/party bus and help unload groups OR you will ride the limo/party bus as a “hype man” to make the ride more fun.
- Flower Team: In this role you will help guests select and pin on their flowers or place them on their wrists.
- Floaters: In this role you will walk around the event space to monitor and fill in where necessary.
- Safety Team: In this role you will guard all entrances/exits and be available as needed. You will not carry weapons in this role.
- Medical Team: In this role you will be on-call for medical emergencies. Experience in this department is required.
- Red Carpet Paparazzi Team: In this role you will stand on the sides of the red carpet to cheer as guests make their way into the event. Once the red carpet entrance is finished, individuals under 18 will be dismissed and other volunteers will be used as floaters. Lots of energy is required for this role!
- Photographer: In this role you will be responsible for getting photos for the night - red carpet, various stations and rooms, the dance floor, and the crowning ceremony. Experience and professional camera is required.
- Parking Team: In this role you will assist with directing traffic for guests who park and stay at the event and for the drop-off line.
- Set-Up Team: In this role you will arrive at the event space early to help set-up rooms and decorate. You will need to be able to lift light objects. The estimated time frame will be February 7, 2025, at 12:00-5:00 pm.
